Let the FUN-k Begin!

Huckleberry American Sour at Draught Works Brewery for our Mountain Funk Sour FestivalBy Danielle Brooker

It’s time to treat your taste-buds to a medley of Mountain-inspired sour beers. Draught Works Brewery proudly presents Mountain Funk Week 2021, running August 9th through August 15th. There will be 8 sour beers on tap, live music (Weds, Thurs, Saturday and Sun), a beading project with Bathing Beauties Beads (Tues), our annual Shop It Like It’s Hot pop-up sale (Weds), a Disc Golf Parking Lot Putting Expo to help fund new baskets at the Blue Mountain course, and more! Because you can’t spell funk without fun!

The beer line-up for our Mountain Funk Sour Week features big berry flavors, along with zesty lemon and citrus notes. You have a whole week to taste them all: Huckleberry American Sour, Flathead Cherry American Sour, Lemon Meringue American Sour, Mountain Berry Bowl collaboration American Sour (with açaí berries from our buds at Mountain Berry Bowls), Cranberry Gose, Strawberry Margarita Gose, Blood Orange Gose, and Space Hippy our first-ever Sour IPA.

Why are some called sours and some gose? A gose is ALWAYS a sour, but a sour isn’t always a gose! A Gose is traditionally brewed with salted water and has a hearty touch of coriander added to it. ALL of our Mountain Funk Project beers go through lactobacillus fermentation except for our Sour IPA. Lactobacillus is a bacteria commonly found in yogurt, sauerkraut, sourdough bread and more that creates lactic acid, which reduces the PH in beer and produces the dry and sour character our puckering palettes are so fond of. Our Sour IPA is unique in that it is soured by yeast rather than bacteria.

So, lift your glass to the Mountains. To the Funk. And to embrace your adventurous side.
