Meet Mike! Draught Works Logistical Beer Geographer!

Mike was hired nearly 6 weeks ago as our Packaging Technician but, being a trained cartographer with a sharp sense of humor, he’s already dubbed himself our Logistical Beer Geographer, and we think that’s pretty neat!

Born and raised right here in Missoula, Mike pursued his undying passion for geography and cartography to attend college in Hawaii and work towards his degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Eventually, Mike reluctantly left Hawaii to finish his GIS degree at Cal Poly Pomona in California and then set out in search of a J-O-B. His search first lead him to New Mexico for a stint, then to Arizona for some time before finally landing a position as a Cartographer with Fish Wildlife and Parks in California.

Though he absolutely adored his job and working in his field, a few years of living the fast-paced-take-no-prisoners-California-lifestyle was enough for him, and eventually those Montana mountains (and his loving support system) beckoned him back home.

Now a “domesticated man” as he calls himself, Mike spends most of his free time playing and writing music, feasting on teriyaki chicken, mowing his lawn, and working on his beautiful new home with his long-term girlfriend Jacinda and their adorable little Yorkshire Terrier, “Booger Shake-A-Day, or just Booger for short,” he said. He also loves a good pepper beer, and he’ll never turn down a classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Though Mike has been a long-time Draught Works supporter, in April he pursued a position on our team based on a glowing recommendation by his trusty dusty best buddy Ben, after growing weary of the “ole Johnson, Johnson, and Johnson day-to-day,” he chuckled. Though learning how to juggle the responsibilities of an entirely new-to-you position definitely has its ups and downs, Mike’s been loving his new job. “Learning how to drive the forklift has definitely been a challenge,” he exclaimed.
